11/9/2022 0 Comments Fifth harmony song with boy band![]() ![]() Every time somebody asks me, "Oh, when you mix your own music, what are you going to make?" And I don't know. Jauregui: I think really it's more just exploring me, and I'm figuring out who I am as an artist and as a writer. Do you see these features as a way to try out new styles? McIntyre: I was excited to see this song pop up because it's in the electronic dance world, and you've already done pop, obviously, and hip-hop. I'm proud of myself and I'm going to continue to grow. I'm trying to work on myself first, and really get comfortable with what I can offer so I can get in the room with some more people that I'm genuinely just a little intimidated by. I mean, I'm super busy, because I'm obviously in Fifth Harmony, and that's my number one focus and priority, so whenever I have days off, I try my best to get in the studio and create. How do you decide which ones you're going to take and which ones you don't have time for? McIntyre: Now, you've done a few of solo songs, and I can only imagine how many people have reached out wanting to work with you. In fact, I rewrote the lyrics, and he's like, "That's great! Put it down! Let's lay it down!" He's just such a great environment. I was a really fun process, and Steve was so encouraging. I wrote, and there was another writer who had done a few of the top lines, but then I reworked it because it was just a skeleton of the song, you know? I reworked the lyrics, and I rewrote, changed up a few melodies and wrote the bridge and did all the backgrounds and harmonies. I mean, he was in the room with me for sure, but he's more on the production side for sure. McIntyre: You guys co-wrote the track together? It was really the first time that I sat down and pushed myself to really write, and he was so supportive and he created such a great space for me to feel comfortable doing me, you know? He's such a cool human, so it was super easy. I went in the studio with him, and he played me some tracks, and we vibed. I grew up in Miami, so the EDM world was so prevalent and the music we all listened to in high school and stuff, so I was super excited. They got me in the studio, and I loved it. My people know his people from working previously, so he thought that it would be a super dope fit. McIntyre: How did you link up with Steve Aoki to make that? ![]() Lauren Jauregui: Wow, I love you! Thank you. ![]()
